History: Beyond French shores, Malbec cultivation began in the 18th century, reaching South America in the 19th century, when certain strains were grown in Chile and Argentina. In the early 20th century, most of Mendoza's vineyards were dominated by the so-called "French grape" (Malbec).
Regional information: Argentina boasts a great diversity of terroirs, with 206,464 hectares (510,184 acres) of cultivated area. The vineyards stretch from north to south, from 22 to 42 degrees latitude, accompanying the Andes and bathing them with their intense colours.
Vinification: 1. Hand-harvesting during the month of April.
2. Cluster destemming and slight berry crushing.
3. Controlled fermentation and gentle maceration for 21 days average, alternating pumping over and delestage.
4. Ageing for 12 - 14 months in 1 to 4 uses French oak barrels.
5. Bottle ageing: 6 months minimum.
